Audi Efficiency Challenge

Assessment explanation

All drivers participate in a competition and are split into teams of two. Each team drives one stage (3 legs). A total of ten different Audi models are available to the drivers, with two of each in the fleet. Each day, i.e. on each leg, the teams have a different vehicle, and teams with the same type of vehicle compete against each other. The objective is to beat the fuel consumption of the other vehicle while remaining within the specified average speed range.

The rules for the Audi Efficiency Challenge A to B are similar to those for a "football tournament":

• The team with the lower consumption wins the leg and is awarded three points (assuming that the specified average speed is maintained).

*) The consumption difference equates to goal difference (calculated from the difference between the competitors expressed as a percentage).

• If consumption is the same, the team with the higher average speed wins.

• If the consumption winner is below the specified minimum average speed, points are deducted in accordance with the degree of the shortfall:
• -5%:   1 point
• -10%: 2 points
• -15%: 3 points

These points are awarded to the opposing team, assuming that it remained within the specified average speed range. If not, the points are forfeited.
